In all of Jewish history there have been no categories that have spanned so many centuries or captured the allegiance of so many Jews as Sephardic and Ashkenazic [lands of origin, Spain and Germany]... In Spain the Sephardim produced the Golden Age, a period of explosive brilliance in philosophical writings, poetry, scientific insights and Bibical criticism, that forever changed the thinking of Western man...The Spanish Inquisition brought this period to an end, but when .. expelled from Spain, they took with them to many lands their unique civilization, which in turn added new dimensions to their host country.
