TEREZIN was built as a fortress late in the 18th century. In the years 1940-1945 the Nazis set up a Gestapo prison in the Terezin Little Fortress and changed the town of Terezin into a ghetto for Jews. This book deals with this sad period of time. The documentary photographs and numerous reproductions of drawings and paintings created by prisoners, including the world-renowned works of art created by children at Terezin, show 1 what was going on behind the walls of Terezin at the time of the occupation of Czechoslovakia. Part of this set of illustrations also are documents showing the history of the concentration camp at Litomerice and the underground factory Richard.--SEVEROCESKE NAKLADATELSTVI (1988)
