"Among the first books of polemics are the Wars of the Hashem by Rabbi Jacob ben Reuven (1170). In this book the Christian asks the Jew: 'How long do you straddle the fence'. The twelve sections of the book include a simulated debate between 'Mechached' and 'MeYached'. The book was inspired by anti-Jewish philosophical literature, written by Moshe the Sephardi. The beginning of the essay discusses the evidence from the mind that the exterminator brings, for the truth of Christianity. The rest of the book focuses on quotations from the entire Bible - and the eleventh chapter focuses on the Gospels. The last gate shows evidence, that the Messiah has not yet arrived. Aside from criticism of Christianity, the book contains a criticism of the double standard in which, according to the believer Christianity excels."
