This 700-page book is a notebook of novelle and ideas Rav Kook wrote in his twenties, when he served in his first official position, as rabbi of Zeimel, Lithuania in the late 19th century. The book was preceded by a ten-chapter introduction that surveys the life of Rav Kook as the young rabbi of Zeimel, and brings pictures and echoes from then. The death of the wife in his youth, her grave (which is also the location of Rav Kook's house), recently found in Zeimel, the moving poem he wrote in her memory and its plunge into the world of the inner Torah as a cure for mourning.
