This seeking for constant instant gratification, for has produced the discontented, anxiety- ridden person of today. The cause of modern restlessness and discontent is not difficult to pin- point. A human being consists of a body and soul. Each requires sus- tenance in order for the whole human being to live in. harmony. Unfortun- ately all our efforts in this confused, strident age are aimed at satisfying our bodily needs only. The soul how- ever, the source of that profound inner peace which is the prime requisite for joy, is completely neglected. And so the Jewish soul thirsts in fact it is parched for its sustenance, which consists of Torah, Mitzvos and Deeds of Loving-kindness. The sole purpose of this book is to inter- pret the sweetness of Torah and the Torah life in a manner both intelli- gible and interesting to the average person. I pray to G-d that just as the re searching, writing and re-writing .f these stories and articles has been a labor of love, may these stories in turn evoke in the reader a strong desire to learn more of our Torah, either in groups at neighboring orthodox synagogues, or in private homes With a suitable companion if possible, or at the very least by arranging to study Torah every day via telephone with some Rabbi or learned layman.
